Simone Biles is unstoppable! Here at Pivot, we’ve been following her success stories in the world of international gymnastics for years. We’re continually inspired by her discipline, performance under pressure, and determination. This is a woman bringing her A-game. What a rock star!
Most recently, in a flawless, show-stopping performance at the world championships in Stuttgart, Germany, on October 5, the 22-year-old gymnast successfully landed two historic gymnastics moves. The double-double dismount on the balance beam includes a double backflip with three twists and the triple-double on floor includes a jaw-dropping backflip with two twists.
For a gymnast to have a move named after them, they must successfully perform the element at the world championships or the Olympics. Simone has accomplished this ground-breaking achievement time and time again. Successfully landing the triple-double on the floor, named the Biles II, became the second floor element named after her, following the Biles I.
Once formally approved by the Federation of International Gymnastics, Biles will have four moves named after her: two on the floor, and one each on the vault and balance beam.
She doesn’t plan to stop here. She has her eyes set on becoming the most-decorated gymnast in world championship history by extending her record of all-around champion to five.
Simone’s pursuit of excellence is incredible. What she teaches us is to never settle. Like Simone, we can set the bar only to raise it again and constantly push ourselves to learn and achieve more.
In our professional or personal life, what Biles teaches us is that the pursuit of excellence is never ending, and requires a keen focus on hard work. It’s the philosophy that the Pivot team strives to achieve everyday through our communication strategy work for our clients.
Keep on going, Simone Biles. We’re cheering for you!
